Why Film?

Our repeat-use, consciously-designed cameras are reviving the love and accessibility of film in a ‘fast photography’ era. Slow consumption and meaningful moments guide our brand, and it’s crucial that everyone can learn how to use our products in a matter of minutes. Our belief is that shooting film doesn’t need to be something exclusive, difficult or expensive — it can be a thoughtful gift and a fun way to collect memories.

Most importantly, 35mm is entirely what you make it. Maybe you’re building a time capsule of flicks from a milestone holiday, or marking a Big Life Occasion. Whatever it is, we’re here to help you preserve all of life’s last day moments — the simple, special, silly or soul-hugging ones that everyone wants to hold close.

FAQS

Is the camera reusable?

Yes, the camera is reusable! Simply load a brand new roll of film into the camera once you have completed the previous one to continue taking photos.

How do I unload the film?

Make sure that your film isn’t exposed to any light when rewinding the roll back into the canister. Exposing your film to light will unfortunately ruin the photos.

Do I need batteries for the camera?

Yes! You will need 1x brand new AAA battery to power the flash. We recommend Duracell or Energizer branded batteries. Half-used batteries often do not have enough charge to power the flash - it needs to be brand new.

How do I develop my film?

Once you have completed your roll of film, you will need to visit a processing lab to develop your film photos. Find your nearest local processing lab, or simple Google ‘processing labs near me’.

Your local processing lab can develop the photos as physical prints or digital scans, which are emailed to your phone. Processing times will vary based on the individual lab, however it often takes between 1-3 business days to receive your photos.

What do I do if there aren't any film processing labs near me?

Here's a list of our favourite labs in Australia that accept mail-in orders. Simply post your film to them for development and they will send you the images via email.

Located outside of Australia? Please email shopitgirlskin@gmail.com and we will recommend a local lab that accepts mail-in orders.

How do I get the photos on my phone?

Your local processing lab can develop the photos as physical prints or digital scans, which are emailed to your phone.

Processing times will vary based on the individual lab, however it often takes between 1-3 business days to receive your photos.

Is the camera compatible with any 35mm film?

Yes, the camera is compatible with any brand of 35mm film. This can be purchased from your local camera store, along with select Big W, Kmart and JB Hi Fi Stores if you are located in Australia.

24 or 36 exposure film can be used inside the camera. This is the number of photos per roll of film.

When should I use the flash?

We recommend using the flash at all times, unless you are shooting in bright direct sunlight. We recommend changing the battery inside your camera every 8 weeks. Unfortunately leaving the flash switched 'on' for an extended period of time will drain the battery. Simply load a brand new battery into the camera to power up the flash again.

My flash won't turn on, what do I do?

We recommend changing the battery inside your camera every 8 weeks. Unfortunately leaving the flash switched 'on'for an extended period of time will drain the battery. Simply load a brand new AAA battery into the camera to power up the flash again.

How do I travel overseas with 35mm film?

Always carry your film in your hand luggage when travelling. The X-Ray scanners at customs used to inspect carry-on luggage use a low level of radiation and won’t cause noticeable damage to your film photos.

How many photos are on a roll of film?

Each roll of film has either 24 or 36 photos per roll, depending on the brand of film.
